Based on a study conducted in 2023, the majority of respondents across all the regions of Nigeria who reported having an insecticide-treated net (ITN), said that they had slept under it. Moreover, 45 percent of the respondents living in the North Central geo-political zone reported not using the net.
An ITN is typically used to help decrease malaria illness, extreme sickness, and death in an endemic region. Some studies confirm lower chances of contracting malaria for pregnant women who sleep under an ITN as against pregnant women who do not.
