In 2023, the majority of respondents who reported having an insecticide-treated net (ITN), in a study conducted in Nigeria, said that they had slept under it. In contrast, 29 percent of the respondents revealed not doing so. An ITN (insecticide-treated net) is typically used to help decrease malaria illness, extreme sickness, and death in an endemic region. Some studies confirm lower chances of contracting malaria for pregnant women who sleep under an ITN as against pregnant women who do not.
