The value of Chinese exports to the European have increased almost nine-fold in the twenty years from 2002 to 2022. In 2022, the total value of imports of goods from China in the EU was 626 billion Euros, an increase of over 150 billion Euros in comparison to 2021. China has been the largest external exporter of goods to the EU since 2005, when it overtook the United States.
