Most of the allegations of sexual misconduct against UN peacekeepers were related to sexual exploitation. In 2022, 54 of the 79 allegations were cases of exploitation. Next to being a horrible crime in itself, sexual exploitation by peacekeepers is particularly concerning as it harms people who already are in a vulnerable situation.
