In a study conducted in 2023, 43 percent of respondents living in the Nigerian South West geo-political zone considered that they got treated for malaria every two months, while 19 percent reported that they got the treatment twice a year.

Malaria is a dangerous disease transmitted to humans by certain mosquitoes that bear the malaria parasite. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
