5G coverage in Finland 2024, by region

The 5G coverage in Finland was the highest in the capital region Uusimaa, including Finland's capital city Helsinki, with 58 percent as of 2024. The regions Pirkanmaa and Kanta-Häme followed. Åland, Lapland and Kainuu ranked last, with a 5G coverage of four percent and less. 

5G coverage is better in urban regions in Finland

In general, the 5G coverage in Finland is increasing since 2020. While the coverage of urban households increased from 12.4 percent in 2020 to almost 95 percent in 2023, rural households reached a 5G coverage of close to 78 percent the same year.

The average 5G speed in Finland is the slowest among the Nordic countries

While Norway had the fastest average 5G upload speed in 2023 with almost 39Mbps, Finland reached close to 27 Mbps, ranking behind Sweden and Denmark. In terms of the average 5G download speed, Sweden and Denmark are the leading countries in the same year. Again, Finland had the slowest speed, reaching almost 225 Mbps on average.
