In 2023, the government of India found about 114 illegal offshore betting and gambling sites operating in the country through domain farming. That same year, just under 140 such sites and apps were blocked by order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India. Over the past couple of years, several websites and platforms, especially those with alleged links to China, have been shut down by the Indian government.
Domain farming is a technique used to evade the tracking of a website by using a different domain name that leads the user to a different website upon clicking.
