Between 2001 and 2020, Harvard University was the top International Patent Family (IPF) applicant worldwide in regards to organs and artificial tissue, with more than 45 IPFs. The University of California was the second-highest with 34 IPFs. Most of the top IPF applicants are Universities in the United States. The only non-U.S. institution shown is the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM) with 20 IPFs.
