The common equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital of the banking industry in Germany increased gradually between 2014 and 2023. In the fourth quarter of 2023, it amounted to 576.01 billion euros, indicating a positive trend in capital accumulation as compared to the previous year. Recently, the most notable decrease in the value of CET1 capital occurred during the third quarter of 2022, when it dropped from around 498 billion euros to 488.8 billion euros.
