Based on a study conducted in 2023, half of the respondents in Nigeria reported that they, or a member of their households have been treated for malaria in the preceding three months, compared to 45 percent of respondents in April 2021.
Malaria is a dangerous disease caused by a parasite that usually infects a certain type of mosquito, which in turn feeds on humans. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
