According to a study conducted in 2023, 51 percent of respondents between 18 and 35 years old in Nigeria reported that they or a member of their households had been treated of malaria in the preceding three months, while 49 percent of them reported that they had had no treatment of malaria in the same time period. The said percentage was the same for those aged 36 to 60 years. Moreover, 37 percent of the respondents 61 years or older considered that they had received treatment for malaria in the preceding three months, while 63 percent had not.
Malaria is a dangerous disease transmitted to humans by certain mosquitoes that bear the malaria parasite. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
