According to a study conducted in 2023, 46 percent of men and 53 percent of women in Nigeria reported that they or a member of their households had been treated of malaria in the preceding three months. On the other hand, 54 percent of men and 47 percent of women had had no treatment of the infection in the same time period.
Malaria is a dangerous disease transmitted to humans by certain mosquitoes that bear the malaria parasite. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
