According to a study conducted in 2023, the majority of respondents in all age groups in Nigeria viewed malaria as one of the most worrisome health challenges in Nigeria. For the respondents between 18 and 35 years old, 89 percent of respondents reported agreeing that malaria was one of the most problematic health challenges in Nigeria, while only eight percent of respondents in this age group reported that it was not.
Malaria is a dangerous disease caused by a parasite that usually infects a certain type of mosquito, which in turn affects humans. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
