In the observed period, the production of brown and black coal in Czechia decreased significantly. While in 1965, over 68 million metric tons of lignite were produced, this figure dropped to 26 million metric tons in 2023. The production of black coal decreased even more radically, dropping from nearly 28 million metric tons in 1965 to just 1.2 million metric tons in 2023.
