United States: population share by ethnic status 1900

In the United States in the year 1900, approximately 88 percent of the population was White, while most of the remainder was Black. The Native American population stood at roughly 270,000 people in 1900, which was equal to just 0.35 percent of the total population - the indigenous population of North America was estimated to have been around 3-4 million people at the point of European contact in the early-16^th century, however a mixture of disease, conflict, and displacement saw their numbers fall to a fraction of this level four centuries later.
