Number of cancer-related deaths in Africa 2020-2022, by type

As of 2022, cancer-related deaths in Africa amounted to 763,843 out of a total of almost 1.2 million diagnoses. Breast cancer was the highest contributor to the number of deaths with 91,252 cases, which demonstrates an increase of around 6.4 percent compared to 2020. However, deaths related to colon cancer have more than doubled since 2020.
