Ahead of the 2022-2023 season, the NHL allowed sponsorship on jerseys for the first time. An analysis showed that 46 percent of franchises only had patch sponsorship on their practice jerseys. In comparison, only four percent of teams had patch sponsorships on their home and away jerseys.
