Awareness of the term "male breadwinner model" in Japan 2023
In a survey conducted in 2023 on gender equality in Japan, the majority of respondents reported not knowing the term male breadwinner model. Just around five percent of respondents were familiar with the term and its meaning. The male breadwinner model is a family paradigm in which men are the main earners and women are primarily responsible for domestic labor in the household.
