In 2022, around 61 percent of people classified as overweight in South Korea aged 19 years and older stated that they had attempted to lose weight within the last year of their own accord. The rate of people trying to lose weight has increased since 1998. While this rate was significantly lower among those aged 70 years and older, it, too, has seen an increase.
