In 2020, roughly half of the global supply of EV batteries available for recycling originated from production scrap from factories, with the other half being supplied by cells reaching the end of their productive life. From 2030, end-of-life batteries are expected to account for the largest share of supply, contributing a share of 94 percent in 2040. The supply of EV batteries for recycling worldwide is forecast to surpass 20 million tons by that same year.
