Value of first-time buyer mortgage lending in Ireland 2018-2023
The value of mortgage loans for first-time-buyers (FTBs) granted in Ireland grew by over three billion euros between 2018 and 2023. In that year, nearly 7.3 billion euros worth of mortgage loans were granted, up from 4.28 billion euros granted in 2018. The sole year that witnessed a minor decline in the value of loans occurred in 2020, with loans amounting to approximately 4.5 billion euros, a decrease from approximately five billion euros in 2019. Mortgage loans to second and subsequent borrowers experienced a similar trend.
