As of 2024, some 130 Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities were at various stages of development. Should all these projects advance, including those in the concept stage, DAC deployment would reach almost 65 MtCO₂ per year by 2030. However, to get on track with the Net Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario, DAC deployment will need to reach 80 MtCO₂ per year by 2030.

NZE = Net Zero Emissions by 2050 Scenario. ‘’Early development’’ includes around 100 facilities recently announced by 1PointFive and Carbon Engineering (target operation year: 2035), for which locations and fate of carbon (storage or use) have not yet been finalized.
