In 2023, there were around 107 cases of whooping cough per 1,000 residents up to the age of four. Figures had generally dropped since 2012, and 2021 saw a new low in the number of cases, probably to due the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in 2023 across all age groups there was a very significant increase in the number of cases.
