Leading acne patch brands in the U.S. 2022, based on sales

In 2022, the brand Starface dominated the acne patch market in the United States, generating about 21 million U.S. dollars in sales. Other brands, such as Hanhoo and Clearasil, also generated significant sales, amounting to around 13.1 and 12.8 million U.S. dollars, respectively.

The skin care patch trend

Skincare patches are becoming increasingly popular, and acne/pimple patches are definitely one of the most popular types of patches. According to the results of a survey conducted in the United States in 2023, in fact, nearly 60 percent of female respondents stated that they mostly bought eye patches, wishing for a depuffing effect. Patches for hydration or against dark under-eye circles were also among the most mentioned by participants. However, when it comes to Gen Z, acne hydrocolloids led the ranking, with 66 percent of consumers having purchased them.

The acne treatment market

Acne treatments were among the most profitable skincare segments in the United States in 2022, recording sales exceeding 820 million U.S. dollars. Some of the leading brands for acne treatment include Differin, Panoxyl, CeraVe, and especially Neutrogena, with sales adding up to around 144 million U.S. dollars as of 2022. Acne is quite common, and contrary to popular belief, it is not something that only teenagers experience. As a matter of fact, sales for OTC acne products and medicine in the United States have kept increasing since 2017, reaching a peak of nearly 400 million U.S. dollars in 2023.
