Number of companies participating in the Climate Disclosure Project (SDP) 2003-2022

Businesses seeking more transparency towards their climate impact is a growing trend worldwide, with the number of entities participating in the Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) increasing year-on-year since 2003. In 2022, nearly 19,000 companies disclosed climate impact metrics and targets. Just a year earlier, that figure stood at 13,000. The CDP is a not-for-profit charity that provides an environmental impact disclosure system for entities including investors, companies, cities, states, and regions. As part of the disclosures, companies report performance on various metrics, including the carbon footprint of buildings, which is a major part of the scope 1 and 2 emissions.
