In 2023, the Bharatiya Janata Party held the majority in the Indian parliament, with around 56 percent of Lok Sabha seats and 39 percent of Rajya Sabha seats. The Indian National Congress, on the other hand, had approximately 22 percent of the combined Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats.
