The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a set of consumer price indices that measures the price of consumer goods and services in a time series, compared to a specific base year (1982-84). In 2023, the CPI for durable goods reached over 126 points. The index for nondurable goods (excluding food and beverages) reached an all-time high of more than 234 in 2022 and remained similarly steep in 2023, at just under 231.
