In June 2023, Germany imported a total of almost seven terawatt-hours of electricity. The increase in electricity imports to the country in April, May, and June 2023 is associated with shutdown of the last three nuclear power plants in Germany in April 2023, as the electricity previously powered by nuclear energy was offset with imported electricity.
The countries Germany primarily imported electricity from are France, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Denmark.
