Contactless payment has been increasing in significance as a payment type of Transport for London public transport services over the past years. In 2022/23, 65 percent of fare payments were made by contactless cards. The share of payments made by Oyster card, which still accounted for over a third of fare payments in 2018/19, had dropped to 23 percent.
