According to a survey conducted in August 2023, above 70 percent of Indian respondents shared that the implementation of the Universal Civil Code (UCC) will assist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) electorally. BJP is one of the major Indian political parties in India that is also the ruling party in India as of August 2023.
The Universal Civil Code (UCC) is a mandate under the Indian constitution that aims to maintain uniformity by treating all sections of Indian society equally irrespective of religion, and caste. With the implementation of the UCC across India, all legal matters such as marriage, and divorce will be treated equally.
