Classes D & E, meaning those earning less than four times the minimum wage (or 4,848.00 Brazilian reals), saw the highest average number of items at 11.7. Class C, on the other hand, had the lowest average number of items in the consumer basket, at 9.6.

The socio-economic levels are made according to the IBGE demographic census.
The IBGE uses the Minimum Wage Range Criterion. This is a method that classifies classes based on income brackets; more specifically, by minimum wages. The minimum wage in Brazil in 2022 was 1,212 reais.
Class A: Over 20 minimum wages (24,240.01 BRL or more)
Class B: From 10 to 20 minimum wages (12,120.01 to 22,240.00 BRL)
Class C:From 4 to 10 minimum wages (4,848.01 to 12,120.00 BRL)
Class D: From 2 to 4 minimum wages ( 2,424.01 to 4,848.00 BRL)
Class E:Up to 2 minimum wages (Up to 2,424.00 BRL)
