As of November 27, Portugal had more land burned by wildfires than any other country in the Mediterranean basin in 2024. The Mediterranean country has lost nearly 143,400 hectares to wildland fires, a significant increase compared to the 97,731 hectares burned yearly on average between 2006 and 2023.
