According to the results of study in the United States in 2017, a virtual reality intervention had a larger effect on the pain reported by inpatients compared to a group which did not use the technology. Before the intervention the mean pain score felt by hospitalized patients was 5.4 while after using the VR this score dropped to 4.1.
