Around one-third of consumers in Japan were interested in using mobile payments apps, a survey conducted in November 2022 found. While around 81 percent had at least heard of the cashless payment service, 32 percent were interested in using mobile payment apps on NFC-enabled devices. The overall ownership rate of mobile payment apps reached 35 percent.
