The share of consumers in Japan owning tap to pay credit cards was around 40 percent in all age groups, a survey conducted in November 2022 found. The share of contactless credit card owners was highest among respondents aged 40 to 49, at 44 percent. The overall percentage of consumers owning credit cards with a tap to pay function was 42 percent.
