OTP was the leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) buyer in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) banking market between 2017 and 2022. The Hungarian bank registered a total of eight transactions within the observed time period. It was followed by Slovenian NLB and Austrian RBI, with four transactions each. In the observed time period, the Baltics and Serbia registered the highest number of bank M&A deals in the region.
