In 2021, 217 more pedal cyclist casualties than pedestrian casualties were reported in England. The number of pedestrian casualties has declined by about 30 percent since 2017, whereas pedal cyclist casualties has decreased by nine percent only.

According to the Department for Transport, a considerable amount of casualties are not reported to the police, as understood from from survey and hospital data, hence figures of casualties are most likely higher than what police reports would suggest.
