Sales growth of private label grocery in Canada by category 2022

Between January and June 2022, the sales of private labels in different grocery categories in Canada exhibited noticeable variations. The year-over-year sales change for private labels in the dairy department displayed a mild decline in January and February. However, starting from that point, the sales began to show significant positive growth, eventually reaching a peak of 29 percent sales growth in June 2022 compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the frozen food category displayed a predominantly negative trend throughout the reported period. Sales experienced a 13 percent decline in February 2022 compared to the previous year. However, there was a slight turnaround in June, with a positive growth of four percent.
