In 2022, the retail sales value of ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages in Japan amounted to around 5.2 billion U.S. dollars. This represented an increase compared to less than five billion dollars in the previous year. The market was forecast to grow further in the upcoming years, with retail sales estimated at 6.6 billion dollars in 2026.
An alcoholic mixed drink widely available as a RTD beverage in Japan is chuhai, a highball using clear, distilled liquor (shochu) as a base.
