During an April 2023 survey among consumers in the United States, 39 percent somewhat or strongly agreed that they were more likely to research a product online that they saw in a film or TV program than a product advertised on TV. Around 24 percent of respondents somewhat or strongly disagreed with it. According to another source, U.S. product placement spending surpassed 14 billion U.S. dollars in 2022.
