Supplementary notes
The souce defines instant payments as "retail payments that are processed in real time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with funds made available immediately for use by the recipient". The SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) instant credit transfer scheme are a common set of rules and standards for instant payments on which European payment service providers have agreed to make it possible for bank users to make euro payments to anyone located anywhere in Europe as easily, securely and efficiently as within their own country – whether that be by direct debit, debit card or bank transfer.
*The survey was carried out in two rounds. The sample share of the first survey round was set to 40%, and the share of the second round to 60%.
The survey question was: “Instant payments are a special type of credit transfer that enable payers to transfer money within seconds to any payee and for which no payment cards are used or needed. Is this type of service available to you?”.
“Heard of service” refers to the answer option “I have heard about this service, but I do not know whether it is available for me or not”.
