In 2022, around 84 percent of air conditioner (AC) units sold in South Korea were the regular type. In recent years, sales of window ACs have increased. This rise in demand can be attributed to the fact that single households are becoming more prevalent in South Korea. Additionally, with a significant share of the population living in rented apartments, installing AC units can become a complicated task. Amidst rising electricity prices, more and more consumers are turning towards the relatively less complicated option of window ACs.
