A survey on online news consumption behavior conducted in India in 2023 revealed that YouTube was the leading platform for online news consumption as indicated by 93 percent of the respondents. Social media was the next most used platform among Indian online news consumers, followed by chat apps. It was worth noting that news publishers had yet to realize their market potential with only 45 percent of respondents using the apps and websites of these outlets to access the news.
