Among Nordic capitals, Helsinki emerged as a frontrunner with a score of 69 percent, when ranked for availabilty of walking and cycling infrastructure in 2022. Copenhagen closely followed with a score of 63 percent.
Selected Nordic cities ranked by the availability of space for walking and cycling in 2022
Cities were scored on a set of indicators on a scale from zero to one hundred. For the category 'Space for people' the indicators included opportunity for walking and opportunity for cycling, as measured by the availability of dedicated infrastructure, and traffic congestion, which was measured by comparing travel time during peak time to uncongested periods.
