In 2022, preliminary figures indicated that Vietnam's oil industry contributed approximately 78.03 trillion Vietnamese dong of revenue to the state budget, a dramatic increase compared to the year prior. Most of Vietnam's crude oil and natural gas reserves lie offshore, mainly in the Cuu Long and the Nam Con Son basins.
