In Portugal, in 2023, the value of operations conducted in automatic payment terminals, or points of sale (POS), amounted to more than 80 billion euros. In mainland Portugal, there were 76 billion euros worth of POS operations, while the Azores presented the lowest figure, 1.99 billion euros.
