In 2021, less than 10 percent of the South Korean adult population aged 25 to 64 years old had completed an education below an upper secondary level. This may range from primary to lower secondary education. The share of the adult population who had not gone on to complete upper secondary education decreased by nearly 31 percentage points since 1995. In the same time period, there was a significant increase in adults who did go on to complete tertiary education.
