Between 2014 and 2020, there were more than 1,100 coal mining jobs lost in Malopolska, a coal basin located in Poland. There were also some 65,000 participants in retraining and re-skilling programs for unemployed people that took place there during that timeframe. Similarly, during the same period of time, roughly 21,900 people lost their jobs at the coal mine in Silesia, Poland, and some 12,000 people took part in training and re-skilling programs that were available for the unemployed there.
