According to an October 2022 survey, U.S. Americans were most likely to use a motor vehicle for transport nearly every day, while they were least likely to cycle every day. 85 percent of respondents reported that they never ride a bike, while only 13 percent never use a motor vehicle.
Reported frequency of travel in daily life in the United States in 2022, by transport mode
The data represents respondents who, in response to the question "Thinking about how you travel from place to place in your daily life, how often do you use each of the following?".
*For the 2022 edition of the survey, a total of 15,871 adults living in the United States were surveyed. Data on an additional 8,345 youth between the ages of 3 and 17 was collected by surveying respondents on young people living in their household. The survey was carried out in English.
Survey results were weighted for age, gender, region, income, and race and ethnicity to correspond to the 2021 population estimates of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
