In 2022, Morocco was by far the country with the largest share of phosphate reserves in the world, accounting for almost 70 percent of the global reserves. That same year, China dominated the worldwide production of phosphate rock with around 85 million metric tons, despite only having the sixth-largest reserves in the world.
